Nearly two decades of sustained growth in the student body have necessitated a plan for expansion of facilities to meet the needs of those students. During the last decade, Carthage has invested more than $150 million in developing best-of-class learning, residential and recreational facilities. These development initiatives comprise significant new construction, as well as many renovations and improvements.
Recent Projects
The Tower Residence Hall
Opened Fall 2018
The Tower Residence Hall is Carthage’s newest residential building. This eight-story building connects Joseph Johnson and Madrigrano Family residence halls, and offers stunning views of both Lake Michigan and the Carthage campus. Students can spend time studying or relaxing on the first two floors; the top six floors are reserved for housing, with space for up to 126 students.
New Science Center
Opened Fall 2015
The Science Center offers new opportunities for innovative science education, and further advances Carthage’s commitment to exceptional research experiences for undergraduates. The center provides state-of-the-art facilities for study in the natural sciences and provides new ways for students and faculty to collaborate on forefront research.
THE OAKS VILLAGE
Completed Summer 2012
The Oaks Village houses undergraduates, with six buildings available. Finishing touches were applied in summer 2012. Naming opportunities are still available. Contact the Office of Advancement for more information.
CAMPBELL STUDENT UNION
Opened August 2011
The 46,000-square-foot new student union has literally transformed community life at Carthage. It has become a community center on par with the College’s other academic, recreational, and residential facilities.
